Remote Wake Up of Library PCs September 7, 2011
eiNetwork has resolved the existing problems with remotely waking up library PCs. As in the past, there are still limitations that prevent us from waking up any wireless PCs.
Going forward, when software updates are being sent out, libraries will now only be asked to leave their wireless PCs turned on.
Java Update September 2, 2011
We will begin deploying an updated version of Java to all libraries on the evening of Wednesday 9/7, and will continue through the evening of Wednesday 9/14.
We expect this update to resolve issues with game sites used by patrons, accessing Web Management Reports, and accessing the Millennium Online Manual.
Click Here to download the Java Deployment Schedule. Click Here to download the master spreadsheet that tracks the dates of all post PC deployment software updates that have been deployed to each library.
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 August 26, 2011

Reminder - Your Help is Still Needed August 25, 2011
We still ask that you immediately contact the Help Desk before rebooting if you get one of the following error messages:
- "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."
- "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."
- "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request."
We are in need of further examples of these problems to diagnose with Microsoft.
Post PC Deployment Software Updates August 23, 2011
A master spreadsheet has been created to track the dates of all post PC deployment software updates that have been deployed to each library. Please Click Here to download the spreadsheet.
Deep Freeze Rollout Complete August 15, 2011
As of this morning, the updated version of Deep Freeze has been deployed to all libraries.
This update should resolve the following problems:
- Standard and Single Purpose PCs freeze at log off
- All-in-One PCs reboot at log off
- Public PCs take a long time to reboot in between sessions
If you are continuing to experience any of these issues, please contact the Help Desk and let them know that the problem is occurring even after receiving the Deep Freeze upgrade.
Post Deployment Issues Update August 12, 2011
A very important updated post deployment technical issues list was provided and discussed at the forum, which provides more details of the problems and what eiN is doing to fix them. Please Click Here to download the issues list.

Reboot Times on Public PCs August 9, 2011
Since the Deep Freeze upgrade began on Sunday 7/31, we are happy to report that several libraries have experienced a decrease in the time public PCs take to reboot between patron sessions.
EnvisionWare Upgrade August 4, 2011
We will begin upgrading Envisionware at all libraries on the evening of Sunday 8/7 and will continue through the evening of Wednesday 8/24. Click Here to download the Upgrade Deployment Schedule. There will be a software update both on the site server and the PCs. This updated version is expected to address a known bug where PCs sporadically enter an "Offline" state. The vendor has also indicated that this update should resolve issues with patron PCs restarting in the middle of a session.
We are piloting the new Envisionware software in East Liberty. So far there have been no reports of PCs in an Offline state.

Printer Drivers
There are network printers for which there are NO available WIN7 compatible drivers. This is usually due to the age of the printer. The manufacturers for these printers have indicated that there is a possibility that the XP driver currently being used may work with WIN7 but they cannot guarantee that to be the case. If your library is using a printer that does not have WIN7 available print drivers you may want to consider replacing the printer prior to your deployment day. The network printers for which there are no available WIN& print drivers are:
- Tektronix Phaser 780 (network printer)
- HP Laserjet P2050 (network printer)
- Xerox Docuprint N17 (network printer)
- Xerox Docuprint N17PS (network printer)
In addition, there are also several local printer models for which there are currently NO available WIN7 compatible drivers. These are receipt printers and again, this is usually due to the age of the printer. The manufacturers for these printers have also indicated that there is a possibility that the XP driver currently being used may work with WIN7 but they cannot guarantee that to be the case. If your library is using a receipt printer that does not have WIN7 available print drivers you may want to consider replacing the printer prior to your deployment day. The local printers for which there are no available WIN7 print drivers are:
- SII CL-1200e (local printer) (receipt printer)
- Seiko DPU-414 (local printer (receipt printer)
If your library is using a printer model for which there is no available WIN7 print driver, the print driver currently in use will be available after deployment, however please note that if the printer no longer works after the WIN7 library computers have been installed or if there are problem after PC deployment the help desk will not be able to support the printer.
USB Adapters
The eiNetwork has done testing with several USB adapters, but does not guarantee compatibility with individual devices. The eiNetwork has only tested and placed the drivers on our Windows 7 image for the following adapters, which may be purchased through the eiNetwork Order Portal:
USB to Serial Adapter
https://einetwork.coupahost.com/items/detail/65
USB to Parallel Adapter
https://einetwork.coupahost.com/items/detail/70
The eiNetwork recommends that libraries only purchase the above adapters. Other adapters have not been tested for compatibility and will require additional drivers, which could result in a delay during your deployment.
