Do You See What I See? How Perceptions Effect Our Lives
Intergenerational High School and Library Book Club Discussion
Basics:
How do you eat on the cheap? Budget Meals

Living:
Living Out of Your Car Photo Contest – who has the messiest car?

Raise Awareness:
What is it like to be homeless. Volunteer at a food pantry, donate books to a pantry, adopt a homeless shelter.

Memoir Workshop:
Was there a moment in your life where everything changed? Has your life turned out the way you planned? What would you do differently?

Parenting Film Festival:
"Mommy Dearest," "What’s Eating Gilbert Grape," "The Grapes of Wrath" and many more movies where parents and children just don’t see things in quite the same way.

Perception:
View stock photos and talk about what you see. Everyone’s view of things is just a little bit different. Discuss what everyone saw, what was different and what was the same.

Building Contest:
Build glass castles out of sugar cubes, Styrofoam or Lifesavers. Everyone’s got an idea of what their castle should look like.

Relationships:
Essays, drawings or paintings about “who is my family?” or “what is resiliency” or “sibling rivalry.”
