The Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) and partnering organizations are asking citizens of this region to participate in a unique program designed to promote open dialogue among fellow residents during March and April of 2007. The purpose of One Book, One Community is to encourage everyone to read and discuss the same book during the same time period.
Reading encourages you to see the world through someone else’s eyes. One Book, One Community is intended to generate civic discussion and promote literacy.
You can find copies of the book at any public library in Allegheny County
and at your local bookstore. For your convenience, you can request it be
delivered to your local Allegheny County library through this website.
Whether you share your thoughts with friends and family, take part in a formal discussion group, or just spend a few minutes in personal reflection, the experiences created from participating in this program will be rewarding and worthwhile.
This year's One Book, One Community program is brought to you by the Allegheny County Library Association with support from Allegheny County, Barnes & Noble, Dollar Bank, Highmark, Joseph-Beth Booksellers and Panera Bread.
