How to Request/Renew Items

Requesting Items

Items from other libraries can be requested in three convenient ways:

• In person by visiting the front desk
• Over the phone by calling 412-882-6622.

Items not available through the online catalog may be ordered through Interlibrary Loan. Click here for more information on requesting books through Interlibrary loan. You will need to set up your own account for these requests.

Renewing Items

Items may be renewed in person at the Whitehall Public Library, through our automated telephone renewal service (see information below), or online. To renew your items online, you must have your library card number in order to login to your account. Most items may be renewed twice, but material cannot be renewed if there is a waiting list.

Materials may be renewed using the automated telephone renewal service if it is less than 7 days overdue and there is no waiting list. To renew an overdue item, call the Whitehall Public Library during regular business hours at (412)882-6622 or call (412) 622-3130 during these hours:

Monday through Wednesday: 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Thursday through Saturday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

When calling the second number, please be prepared to provide:

• Your library card barcode number
• The barcode number of the item(s) to be renewed
