LINDA BOOK -- in a book!

Linda Book of Whitehall Borough Council is pictured here with author Lisa Unger. Linda is one of the main characters in Ms. Unger's new book Die For You. She got the opportunity by being the highest bidder of an auction as part of a library fundraising program a few years ago.

MYSTERY BOOK CLUB'S SPECIAL GUEST
On February 26, Joseph Vignale, owner of Four Winds Gallery, Shadyside, talked to members of the Mystery Book Club about the history of Navajo silverwork in conjunction with the group reading "Skinwalkers," by Tony Hillerman.
Vignale brought numerous pieces of silver jewelry: some that were made specifically for the Navajo themselves to wear; other jewelry and ornaments that were made for the tourist trade in the 1930s and 40s; and contemporary pieces by artisans today. In addition to the jewelry, he also brought weavings and talked about the tradition of this native craft and the colors and symbols that are incorporated into the rug designs.
