Library Policies

Library Cards

• Library cards are free of charge to any resident of Pennsylvania.
• Residents living outside Allegheny County must obtain a PA ACCESS sticker from their home library.
• Identification is required to obtain a library card. Children as young as 3 years old may obtain a card.
• Applicants age 15 and under must have the signature of a parent or guardian.
• A card is valid for 3 years.
• A $1.00 will be charged for replacement cards.

Check Out Limits

• twenty-five (25) - books
• five (5) - audio books on cassettes
• five (5) - audio books on CDs
• five (5) - music CDs
• five (5) - videos
• five (5) - DVDs
• five (5) - magazines

BORROWING PERIODS

• Most of our materials circulate for three weeks.
• Popular new fiction, magazines, videos, DVDs and music CDs circulate for one week.
• Reference materials do not circulate and must be used in the library.
• Library materials currently in circulation may be reserved.
• Materials not included in our collection may be requested from another library.
• Depending on the availability and popularity the requested material may be available any where for one day to several weeks.
• Patrons will be notified when reserved and requested materials become available.
• Materials will be held at the Circulation Desk for (8) days after notified.

RETURNING MATERIALS

• All materials may be returned to the Library when it is open, or placed in the Book Drop any time (no overdue books in the Book Drop).
• Audio and videos must be returned to the desk.
• Library materials may be renewed one time for two weeks if they are not on reserve.
• Audio cassettes, videos, one or two week books and magazines are not renewable.

FINES

• Best Sellers - $0.25 a day
• Audio bookS - $0.50 a day
• Music CDs - $0.50 a day
• Videos and DVDs - $1.00 a day
• All other materialS - 0.25 a day
• Materials over-due by more than 90 days will result in action by the North Fayette Police Dept.
• The charge for lost materials is the current replacement cost of the item plus $2.00 processing fee.
