Welcome to the South Park Township Public Library's Consumer Education Site
The South Park Township Public Library is committed to developing an on-going consumer education collection and community outreach program. The collection consists of both circulating materials and a web site. The initiative has been possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant provided by the Commonwealth Libraries of Pennsylvania.
What is Consumer Education?
Consumer Education seeks to provide consumers with the information they need to make informed decisions in the marketplace. As consumers we make decisions daily that affect the world we live in, our health and that of our families, as well as, our financial stability. With so many choices available in today's marketplace it is imperative to enter into the decisions we make with the knowledge of an educated consumer. How do we obtain this knowledge? We can all be educated consumers simply by taking the time to research the different choices that are available to us prior to committing ourselves to a particular choice. Where do we find the information we need to make these decisions? There are many agencies and publications available to the public. These agencies can be contacted in person or can be reached through online sites. There are many electronic and print materials available to the public on various consumer education topics. Your public library is always a recommended place to start your research project.
What will I find on the South Park Township Consumer Education Site?
