The South Park Township Public Library's Consumer Health Resource Pages

 

The Health Resource Pages are comprised of eight main subtopics; "Conditions and Diseases," "Medicine and Drug Info," "Fitness, General Health Guides," "Health Care Choices," "Health Care Plans," "Medicare and Medicaid," and "Physicians." Each of these main subtopics if clicked on have several more specific subtopics listed below.

Some of the more well-used minor subtopics will have pathfinders attached to them to guide you in your research of that particular topic. For example: If you click on Conditions and Diseases and then click on the minor subtopic "Cardiovascular" you will notice that a pathfinder is available.

 

What Type of Information Can I Find Under Each Health Resource Subtopic?

 

The health resource subtopic "Conditions and Diseases" lists in alphabetical order major body systems as well as gender and age specific conditions and diseases. Simply click on the area that you have an interest in and you will be taken to a page of relevant links.

The health resource subtopic "Medicine and Drug Info" contains links to online resources that help with identification of and facts related to pharmaceuticals and natural medications.

The health resource subtopic "Fitness" contains links to online resources that provide information to help keep you healthy and fit.

The health resource subtopic "General Health Guides" includes mega sites that have avariety of health-related information. These sites are a good place to begin your health research, and many contain search features and patient education fact sheets.

The health resource subtopic "Health Care Choices" contains sites that deal with your rights as a patient, as well as, information regarding consumer health advocacy issues.

The health resource subtopic "Health Care Plans" provides you with information that may be helpful in selecting and using health care plans.

The health resource subtopic "Medicare and Medicaid" contains sites that provide information regarding Medicare and Medicaid. The US government site provides tools for you to compare and find prescription drug plans and coverage by state.

The health resource subtopic "Physicians" provides links to sites that provide information on finding a physician as well as what to consider when looking for a physician.
