Summer Reading Program 2008—starts Monday, June 9

This year the themes for the Summer Reading Program are buggy!  The Children’s Department is encouraging all kids to Catch the Reading Bug.  Our Teen Librarian wants all teens to experience Metamorphosis.  And, all adults will be saying  Don’t Bug Me.  I’m Reading!

 

 

 

Bug Crafts for Adults

Tuesday, June 10 at 11 a.m.

Adults are invited to come sign up for our Don’t Bug Me, I’m Reading summer reading program and make Bug crafts. Crafts include: buggy chip clips, key chains, bug magnets, and more. Registration required. Register at the checkout desk.

 

Social Security Online Retirement Seminar                                      Monday, June 16th at 7 p.m.                                                                                   A speaker from the Social Security Administration will explain what you need to know about retirement benefits and how to navigate Social Security’s website. You will learn how to file for retirement benefits online and how to access the site for other services. Registration required. Register at the checkout desk.

SNHL at Shaler Community Days — at Kiwanis Park

Saturday, June 28th from 4-8 p.m.

Come learn about the library’s summer reading programs and register for a library card. SNHL will provide lots of fun arts and crafts for children.

 

New Computer Classes

Free and open to all.  Registration is required for all classes.

Chocolate Tour of the Internet

Monday, June 9th at 3 pm and at 7 p.m.

This class covers how to search the internet for Chocolate recipes.

 

 

Web 2.0 Cool Internet Tools

Wednesday, June 11 from 7-8:30 p.m.

This class will cover what Web 2.0 is and will cover neat tools on the Internet that include organization tools, citation tools, blogs, wikis, and more.

 

 

Intro to Blogging

Monday, June 23rd at 3 p.m.

This class will cover what a blog is and how to set up an account on eBlogger (a free Weblog publishing tool).

 

 

Great Websites for Parents

Monday, June 23rd at 6:30 p.m.

This class will cover great websites for parenting information and advice.
