Director’s Corner “Hats off to our Volunteers”
On May 30th we will honor our amazing library volunteers at our annual luncheon. We are so fortunate people choose to give of their time to their local library. SNHL is served by over 30 regular adult volunteers who read shelves, clip coupons, fold, staple, cut, paste, create artwork, file, organize, sort donations, pull shelf cards and clean. In addition, volunteers from the Shaler Garden Club weed the hillside, plant, water and acquire grants to purchase materials for the grounds. The Shaler Neighborhood Improvement Committee volunteers to decorate the library for the holidays.
We are fortunate to have students from the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society who have labored for us during our twice-annual book sales. Our summer reading student volunteers assist in registering children for summer reading and tracking of hours.
Speaking of book sales—the Friends of the Library log a lot of volunteer hours—from organizing the membership drives, sorting, hauling, laboring over the sale, collecting money and assisting in the clean-up—thank you!
Do you have some time to spare for the library? We are in particular need of adults and older students who are rather particular about keeping things in order—we have 1000s of books to keep in Dewey Decimal order or alphabetical order. It’s a perfect volunteer job—come in at your convenience and stay as long or as short as you want! Shelf reading is relaxing and very satisfying. Let us know!
We thank all of our volunteers! We couldn’t do it without you. ~Sharon McRae |
