Writers Group
Writers and Aspiring Writers..Join Us! Violeta Garcia-Mendoza is starting a writers'group at the library. The sessions are 1 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The group will meet on the first Thursday of every month. Interested participants will spend a part of the time in free writing and part in sharing their writing that they are working on with the group. Contact Jean Kanouff at 412/795-3507, ext. 120.
Scrapbooking - Top Secret Technique
Want to check out the scrapbooking industry's newest tools and techniques without having to fork over the product's cost? Sign up for this class offered one evening every month where you'll complete an altered project featuring exciting new materials and design elements. No experience necessary. Bring your scissors and adhesives. The material cost is $10. The meeting dates are Wednesday, September 3; Wednesday, October 1; and Wednesday, November 5. The times at each meeting are the same: 6 to 8 pm.
Sign Language Class
A new beginners class in sign language will start Tuesday, August 26th at 7 pm and continue for 6 weeks. The teacher is Mary Ann Stefko from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. This is a free class, but signups are necessary. Call the library at 412/795-3507 to register or stop in at the front desk of the library.
Art Group of Penn Hills
The Art Group of Penn Hills meets every Tuesday from 10 am to 1 pm at the William E. Anderson Library of Penn Hills.
Seniors for Safe Driving
This program will meet on Wednesday, August 27th from 9 am to 12:30 pm. The cost is $13 per person. Please call 800-559-4880 to register.
Fall Yoga Classes
Yoga classes will start again on September 9th at 7 pm. There are 3 classes to choose from:*"Light Yoga" is Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm beginning September 9. The cost is $35.
*Beginner classes are on Thursday nights from 7-8:30pm beginning September 11 or Saturday mornings beginning September 13 from 10:30-noon. The cost is $47.
*Advanced yoga is Saturday mornings from 9-10:30 am beginning September 13. The cost is $47.
The cost is for six weeks of classes. Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. The instructor is George Bender, Level One, Two & Three Certified. YogaFit trainer, Anatomy & Alignment & Certified Yoga for Seniors.
Card Club
This group will not be PLAYING cards; they will be MAKING them. Wouldn't it be great to have a selection on hand to choose from? Join us once a month as we handcraft every kind of card imaginable in your choice of designs and colors. Bring a pair of scissors and adhesives. The material fee is $10, and the sessions begin in September on Sundays. The dates are: Sunday, September 21; Sunday, October 12 and Sunday, November 23. The program meets from 1 to 4 pm. The Thursday Evening Book Club meets at the library at 7 pm on the third Thursday of the month. Books are chosen in advance so that everyone has a chance to read them over the month. Mother-Daughter Book Club
The Mother-Daughter Book Club is for young ladies and their mothers. The club usually meets on the third Saturday of every month at 2 pm in the library. Vintage Fashion Show
There will be a Vintage Fashion Show at the library on Sunday, September 28th at 2 pm. Vintage fashions will be showcased in this first time ever event. Adult and children's fashions will be shown. Light refreshments will be served, and admission is free. Space is limited, so please call the library at 412/795-3507 to register.
