Boomer Connections @ Northland Library

Boomer Connections is an initiative organized by NPL Staff to develop innovative, model programs that target services and resources to connect active “boomer” adults with new opportunities for learning, work, community service, and social interaction. To learn more, contact us at boomerconnections@einetwork.net.

Boomers are being challenged to accept a new role as caregivers for a parent, spouse, or child. Some of us are known as the "sandwiched generation" of caregivers, caring for more than one loved one, usually a parent and child, or a parent and spouse.

Upcoming Programs:
Lifelinks logo LifeLinks for Caregivers is an educational outreach program to assist family caregivers by providing information on aging, caregiver issues and available resources within Allegheny County. This program is targeted to those currently caring for a loved one, those anticipating that responsibility in the future, and older adults themselves. More information...

Instead of planning for retirement, many baby boomers are considering changing their career paths, "recareering" themselves into completely different job descriptions.

Upcoming Programs:
Have you always dreamed about owning your own business? Have you wondered what it takes to strike out on your own and make it happen? This three-part series will help you to answer those questions, and to develop a business plan, to explore franchising, and to become familiar with legal issues of self-employment.
