eiNetwork News and Events
Did You Know?
- The eiNetwork has one of the best networks of any library consortium in the country, with high-bandwidth connections between the eiNetwork central location and most of the participating libraries. Among other things, this gives free high-speed Internet access to patrons in the libraries.
- The eiNetwork provides and maintains over 2000 PCs and desktop appliances
in 80+ locations in Allegheny County.
- The eiNetwork uses over 25 modern, high-speed, redundant servers in its central location to provide all of its services.
- The eiNetwork maintains an electronic "card catalog" which holds information
about 3+ million books, journals, CDs, videos, etc. The electronic catalog
is accessible over the Internet. Anyone with a library card from any
of the 80+ eiNetwork-participating library locations may check out any
of the circulating items in the catalog, no matter which library owns
the item.
- The eiNetwork provides email services to 1100+ employees of the public
libraries in Allegheny County.
