Why
do I need to request an item?
All you need to request an item from The Catalog is a current library card
in good standing from any eiNetwork member Library in
Allegheny County.
Why didn't my request work? While most
requests are successful, there are times when the system won't process a
request:
-
- The item you wish to request is available at the library you are
standing in. Be sure to check the shelf first.
-
- The item you requested is not available to check out. It might be a
reference book that has to be used in the library.
-
- The item might be missing or lost. Contact your librarian for help.
-
- You mistyped your name or library card number.
-
- You have requested too many items.
-
- You have items overdue or you owe too much money in fines.
-
- Your card has expired.
-
- There are no individual copies linked to the record that you wish to
request.
How am I notified that my request is in? You
will be notified by e-mail, telephone or by postal mail when your item
arrives at the requested pick-up location. You may also check My Account
to see the status of your items:
-
- READY FOR PICKUP = the item is waiting for you at your designated
pick-up library.
-
- IN TRANSIT = the item is being sent to the designated pick-up
library. Delivery can take a few days.
-
- AVAILABLE = the item is available on the shelf at another library
and will fill your request immediately.
-
- CHECKED OUT = the item is checked out to another borrower.
-
- X of X HOLDS = you are in line to receive the item.
What is the Book
Cart? The Book Cart is a
feature that allows you to save multiple titles so that you can request
them all at once or save, email or print out your results for future
research or as a bibliography.
