11.16.2009- America's Star Libraries
For the second year running, the Green Tree Public Library has received recognition from Library Journal as one of America's Star Libraries. Library Journal grants this distinction to 258 libraries nationwide. Green Tree is one of 5 Pennsylvania libraries selected as a Star Library.

12.2.2009- Author Visit with Jessica Bellas (7:00-8:00 p.m.)
Please join us on Wednesday, December 2 at 7 p.m. as author Jessica Bellas discusses her new book Maotai, Mooncakes and Monks . Jessica Bellas is an aspiring writer who moved to Hong Kong in February 2006. She works as an engineer and project manager during the day so she can earn enough money to fund her global travels. Maotai, Mooncakes and Monks, her first book, was released in May 2009 by Tamco Publishing. In her book, Jessica records the most humorous moments of her first thirty months living as an expatriate in Hong Kong. Jessica returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh in October 2009 to be closer to her family.

12.3.2009- Introduction to Web 2.0 (7:00-8:00 p.m.)
Have you heard of things like MySpace, Facebook, blogs, and Twitter, but you're not really sure what they are or what they do? This program will introduce the concept of Web 2.0 and social media technologies. No knowledge of computers is necessary (though some understanding of the Internet would be beneficial).

12.17.2009- Holiday Storytime (10:30-11:30 a.m.)
That jolly guy in the red suit is taking a sleigh ride to Green Tree and he wants to meet all the area children. First, we'll gather in the Sycamore Room to hear holiday stories. Then, we'll take turns meeting Santa and eating cookies! All families are welcome. No registration is required.

The library will close at 12:30 p.m. on December 24th and January 31st (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve).
