Historical Society
The Historical Society of Green Tree is open to the public. The hours and meeting dates are as follows:
- Tuesdays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and by appointment
- General Membership Meetings take place on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm except during July, August and September
Membership Dues - $10.00 Yearly

- Complete bound collection of Chartiers Valley Life weekly newspaper, 1923-1956
- Census microfilms from 1790-1920
- Large collection of local school class pictures
- Aerial photograph collection from the 1930s up to the 1990s
- Oral history tapes of residents

- Homes history files
- County and town histories
- School year books
- Video tape collection of community events
- Map collection
- School tax records 1922-1940
- Planning commission minutes from the 1950s and 1960s
- Local cemetery books
- Borough directories
- Minutes and albums from local civic groups including American Legion, Womans Civic, PFO, GAA, etc.
- Property assessment books 1976-1980 and 1986-1991
- Photographs, news clippings, memorabilia
- World War II data and memorabilia
Historical Society Facts
- Organized September 1985 as a direct result of the Green Tree Centennial
- Started by members of the Historical Committee of the Centennial
- Chartered November 1986
- Registered with the state and IRS as a tax exempt non-profit organization
- Maintains cataloged archives
- Distributes newsletter quarterly
- Displays artifacts in display cases in hallway behind library, as well as in the historical society office
- Speaks to community groups on the history of Green Tree
- Conducts tours for schools, scouts and other community groups
- Invites the public to use our facility for research
