The historical Society of Green Tree is open to the public.  The hours and meeting dates are as follows:

 

  • Tuesdays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and by appointment
  • General Membership Meetings—3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm except during July, August and September

Historical Society Facts

 

  • Organized September 1985 as a direct result of Green Tree’s Centennial
  • Started by members of the Historical Committee of the Centennial
  • Chartered November 1986
  • Registered with the state and IRS as a tax exempt non-profit organization
  • Maintains cataloged archives
  • Distributes newsletter quarterly
  • Displays artifacts in display cases in hallway behind library, as well as in the historical society office
  • Speaks to community groups on the history of Green Tree
  • Conducts tours for schools, scouts and other community groups
  • Invites the public to use our facility for research
