America's Star Libraries
For the second year running, the Green Tree Public Library has received recognition from Library Journal as one of America's Star Libraries. Library Journal grants this distinction to 258 libraries nationwide. Green Tree is one of 5 Pennsylvania libraries selected as a Star Library.

1.29.2010- Fiesta Fridays (4:00-4:45 p.m.)
Come join Senorita Sara for Fiesta Fridays. Get a mix of Spanish and fun through games, musica, stories, crafts, and mucho more. If you want some time to relax after school on Fridays, don't just take a siesta. Come make friends, learn some new words in espanol, and grab some chips and salsa while learning about their unique culture in fun and exciting ways. This program is made possible by the Dr. William Z Nasri memorial grant and is open to students in grades 1-5. Fiesta Fridays will take place on January 15, January 29, February 12, and February 26. Please register for each program you wish to attend.

2.03.2010- Understanding Memory Loss
Do you wonder when you forget something if it's part of normal aging or something more serious? What is the difference between dementia and Alzheimer's Disease? What are the 10 warning signs?
Find out the answers to these questions and more at Understanding Memory Loss, an informational seminar presented by Lois Lutz, Education and Outreach Coordinator at Alzheimer's Association-Greater Pennsylvania Chapter. Registration is required for this program. Please sign up on or before Friday, January 29.

2.4.2010- ESL Family Literacy Night (6:30-7:30 p.m.)
The Green Tree Public Library is proud to introduce a new series of family literacy classes for patrons who are not native English speakers. The classes, which will include literacy and language instruction for all ages, are presented in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council and are sponsored by the Dr. William Z Nasri memorial grant. Classes will be lead by GPLC instructors and volunteers.
No registration is required to attend. Please contact the library for more information.
