All proceeds benefit the Summer Reading Programs at the Bethel Park Public Library.  Books, toys and more! Open during regular Library hours:  Monday June 4 through Saturday June 9.

 

HARRY POTTER PARTY AND BOOK RELEASE!

Join us from 11 PM on Friday, July 20 until 12:30 AM on Saturday, July 21 to celebrate the release of the 7th Harry Potter book:  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.   Pre-order your book from the library after May 15 and you will be invited to this magical evening of games and crafts.  Contests and prizes, too!

A show full of nonstop action! Acrobatic tricks, comedy, slapstick, audience participation, props and more! These traveling storytellers have performed at the National Theater, Disneyland, & countless other places! See them for free this summer!

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 29 @ 4:00 p.m. at the Brentwood Library

Luck and Money: "La Suerte y El Dinero": a Latin American tale from New Mexico about a poor carpenter becomes a guinea pig to settle an argument between two rich men. Incorporates a recurring bit of playing "charades" with audience.

The Fourth Question: a Chinese legend about sacrifice, pointing out how doing things for others often brings benefit to oneself. A poor young man sets out on a journey to find the sage who lives in the mountains.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 29 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Bethel Park Library

The Golden Pitcher: a Mongolian fable about how appearances can be deceiving. An excessively vain emperor who notices that he is getting gray hair tries to avoid the problem, but he learns the folly of his ways in an unexpected manner.

Simple Ivan: one of the classic "noodlehead" stories found in many cultures, about a Russian boy who follows the right advice at the wrong time, with hilarious results. This story is presented mostly in pantomime with musical accompaniment.

DRAMA IN THE LIBRARY!

Do you love to act?  Got your parents calling you a “drama queen/king?” Why not put your talents to good use and have some fun this summer being involved in our drama club.  We will be meeting on Fridays throughout the summer, acting and building sets, playing acting games, too!  Practices are Fridays @ 3pm June 15 - August 3. For those entering 2-5th grade. Performance is Friday, August 10th @11am.

TRICKY TRACKS

The Regional Environmental Education Center presents this hour long program for those entering 1st to 6th grade. How do we solve the mystery of who made these tracks? Listen to the story Whose Tracks are These? by Jim Nail. Make your own animal tracks to take home! This will kick off our mini-series! Thursday, June 14 at NOON. 

 

THE MYSTERY OF MUSIC

Learn how to read music and play the recorder! You will get your own recorder to keep! Registration is limited to fifteen kids! Thursdays @ 1:30pm For those going into grades 1-3. June 14 - August 2.
