bibliographies and reading lists, texts, and Web 'metasites' focusing
on aging or closely allied subjects. They cover topics ranging from Alzheimer's
disease to wills and estate planning." Easily browsed or searched
by topic. Searchable in English, French, or Spanish, but entries are in
English.

National Council on
the Aging (NCOA)
The NCOA is an umbrella association of "organizations and professionals
dedicated to promoting the dignity, self-determination, and well being
of older persons." They promote "vital aging" (a registered
trademark), preferring to think of older people as "the aging,"
not the "aged." Unlike commercial sites aimed at seniors, this
one is free of annoying ads, and offers true substance, especially in
t he area of policy and legislative updates. Among its many features,
one will find information on adult day services, health care, housing,
independent living, and other topics central to "vital aging."

The National
Center on Women & Aging (NCWA)
The mission of The National Center of Women & Aging (NCWA) is to focus
attention on the concerns of midlife and older women. The site offers
excerpts from their newsletters as well as projects underway and several
publications. Other Web Resources provides directories on topics such
as health, aging, caregiving, housing, and financial security; with Other
Sites of Interest leading to further Web sites which encourage women to
become productive and contributing members of society in their later years.

Administration on Aging (AoA)
Information about AoA and its programs. Includes resources for elders,
families, and caregivers (Alzheimer's resources, disaster assistance,
elders' rights, housing, nutrition, services); practitioners (civil rights,
government poverty guidelines, statistics, transportation); and links
to grant programs. AoA is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services.
CareGuide
Includes information on how to find, evaluate, and pay for various forms
of elder care. There is a searchable directory resources and services
in the United States. Entry details range from just name, address, phone
number, and map to Web pages with full information, including costs and
services offered.
CarePlanner
A decision support tool for seniors, caregivers, family, friends, and

Provides adults 50 and older with information and instruction about computer
technologies. See the Enrichment Centers for information on health, crafts,
computers, and history. Check the SeniorNet Discussion area for roundtable
discussions on hundreds of topics (you can join in) - from the 23 topics

Computer Lessons and Projects folder). There's a directory of all the
SeniorNet Learning Centers around the United States (currently more than
200).

SeniorSite.com bills itself as a Web community for adults 55 and older.
There is age-targeted advertising but also a lot of health and recreation
information on this site. The content is clearly presented and useful
for novice or expert level computer user. Instructions on how to add a
bookmark or favorite, for example, are very detailed. Chat areas are geared
to senior interests and registration is free.
