Part-time Teen Librarian

Moon Library has an immediate opening for a part-time (18 - 23 hours per week) Teen Librarian. Individual must be creative, energetic and either possess, or be working towards, their MLIS. Hours are primarily evenings and weekends.

Located in the western suburbs of Pittsburgh, Moon Library is one of the fastest growing libraries in Allegheny County. The library boasts a very current teen collection including books, music CDs, DVDs, graphic novels, magazines and books on CD. In addition, attendance at teen programs increased 43% from 2006 to 2007. Ongoing and active teen programs include an Anime Club, a Teen Knitting Club, and annual book battles for 6th - 12th graders.

Under supervision of the Library Director the Teen Librarian supervises all aspects of library service to teens in middle school and high school and to their adult caregivers. The major job responsibilities include planning, managing, implementing and executing a comprehensive program of library services to teens; and selecting and maintaining the teen's library collection within the constraints of a designated budget. The work demands an interest in and a genuine desire to serve teens and their adults.
