LIBRARIAN/YOUTH SERVICES CONSULTANT

The Monessen Public Library and District Center has an immediate opening for a youth services consultant librarian, part time with some benefits. Under the supervision of the Library Director, this position performs professional work in planning and coordinating a comprehensive program of youth services to libraries in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.

Primary responsibilities include consulting on youth services to district libraries in cooperation with the District Consultant and coordinating with state, national, and other local programs. This position requires an ALA-accredited MLS degree with children's library experience. It requires a thorough knowledge of children's and young adult's resources, storytelling, and program presentation. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work as a team member, must have own transportation and a valid PA driver's license, and willing to travel to district libraries for meetings and consultations, as well as to conferences as needed.

Schedule will range from 15-20 hours per week as needed.
